Know what you’re up against if PC encryption is part of your
data protection plan.
While the virtues of encryption are understood and extolled by
vendors and the press alike, there are some painful truths that
go largely unmentioned. Whether necessary for compliance,
state breach disclosure law or in preparation for doing
business in a state requiring it of consumer data, encrypting
PC data is both necessary...and difficult.
Installed PC software that simply locks down the contents of
a disk drive can be both problematic and incompatible with
emerging computing tools and trends. There is however, a
